Happy new month beautiful people. This month will be a better month hopefully. I hope you are good and staying safe. Today’s post is one we are all learning to accept as part of our lifestyle.Change came in to hunt me and it got me so well. Change is inevitable, one can never fully prepare for it. It is most times a game changer. This pandemic has proven all the theories of change. Corona virus came to the world silently and now gains the most attention, urgh such an attention seeker.I never felt the impact of this lockdown because the first week, I got busy working on creating content on my Youtube channel, and I joined the YouTube lock down challenge. This made my brain engaged and supper productive. Same thing as the second week, although I only had to record new videos because I did not like the quality of some of the video. So apart from that, I was editing every day and uploading the video every night.

Moving on to the third week, I encountered a new change (I started to feel the effect of COVID 19 more) in my life, it messed up my plans and also routine, and I took a break off social media to process my feelings and to figure out how much of an impact will the change have in my life. For a week, I was not productive, my body was not willing to work, not willing to record also. I accepted all the feelings and accepted my body needs this. In conclusion, I wanted to be on my bed doing nothing, during this period I realized how much of an impact COVID-19 had in my environment. I decided to accept this new change and figure out a new routine, and it has been good so far. When you are faced with a sudden change it is hard for you to have a stable mental health, but you can fight it and work hard to keeping a stable mental health.

So in this tough time, I have been practicing 5 things and some you will be shocked that I am practicing, but whatever I can do to be me and have peace of mind, I will do it.

1. Allowing yourself express emotions: Allow yourself to be vulnerable. This simply means you are being honest with how you feel and also appreciating the process. If you feel like crying, allow yourself cry. If you feel like shouting, take a pillow and shout. Whatever it is, do it, because the earlier you accept those feelings and process it, the earlier you feel better.

‘I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use the, to enjoy them, and to dominate them’ – Oscar Wilde

2. Dancing or listening to your favorite playlist: This is a mood booster. It is one of my favorite thing to do. Create a playlist with your favorite artists, especially songs that you know the lyrics to. You listen to it when you want to uplift your mood.

‘Dance is the hidden language of the soul’ – Martha Graham

3. Talking to someone: This helps a lot, but please make sure you are being vulnerable with someone that will not judge you. It has to be someone you feel safe to talk to. This helps to analyze your emotions from a different perspective. If you can do this right then it will have a good result.

‘When you give yourself permission to communicate what matters to you in every situation, you will have peace despite rejection or disapproval. Putting a voice to your soul helps you to let go of the negative energy of fear and regret’- Shannon L. Alder

4. Self-journaling: This allows one to be aware of their emotions. Honestly I call it self-therapy. When I practice this, I am more aware of my emotions and I am able to process it and know why I feel a certain way. Through this I am able to work on my feelings and change it as soon as I can. This helps to monitor your behavioral patterns.

‘Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time’ – Mina Murray

5. Being positive: This is the most important one. Positivity is key in life especially if you want to keep moving forward in life. Having the optimistic attitude in life will take you far and be a better person.

‘The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking’ – Albert Einstein

We have anxiety attacks because of the change and the fear of uncertainty, so practicing all this will go a long way to ease that fear. What has this change made you do different?Let us engage in the comment section. Thanks for stopping by.With Love Joke Ishmael
